Just go for it. Usually*, people who work at skateshops are cool so I’m sure they’ll understand if you’re just starting out skating. You might wanna start with some cheap shoes tho, nothing too high tech. Just a basic skate shoe, doesn’t matter what brand. And for board size, its really trial-and-error because everyone likes different feels.

Answer:
Well, as far as dress goes, try and look as weird as possible. Make sure your pants flood, and wear socks with crazy patterns. When actually skating, sagging isn’t required, but every other time, you must sag profusely. Yes, you have to sag and your pants must flood. Of course you have to swear, that shouldn’t even be a question. The more cuss words, the better.
Oh yeah, and you might want to skate every now and then.
